Project Overview

Finch designed and built 68 stainless steel modular Animal or Swine Pens for a large government agency. These Modular animal pens are designed for assembly and disassembly with no tools and to interlock with each other to form various shapes and sizes.

Project Specifications

  • Worked with government team to design these interchangeable heavy duty animal pens
  • Main structural components are 4” SQ tubing with adjustable polypropylene feet and walls made of round tubing which can be made to any specific length or height
  • Simple hook latches the main beams together, full-length pins connect the pen walls to the corner uprights, and clevis pins secure the upper bracing. There is sufficient clearance to ensure a tight fit while maintaining ease of assembly
  • Floor of each module is made of a soft coated expanded metal suitable for a full range of pigs or other animal hooves and made of 2 or 3 rectangular pieces with 1” x ½” hole sizes for the ease of cleaning. One example of this kind of flooring is Tenderfoot
  • Panels are structurally reinforced to withstand the specific animal weight.  One model was designed for pigs weighing over 300lbs with 4 and 6-foot walls
  • Included other features such as little animal guarding to prevent the escape
  • Project was completed on-time and under budget during COVID-19
